John B Tolman's Job Title: Printing, Publishing and Allied Industries in Lynn, Massachusetts.
John B Tolman's daughter Anna was born in 1838, I believe the circa of the daguerreotype is around 1843 going by how young the girl is, the mat and case.
Tinted: A nice example of early crude tinting using Red & Blue Tint. Face/ Cheeks & hands have red tinting and blue tinting to the white cloth behind John.
1/6 Plate (2"3/4 x 3"1/4) Daguerreotype with mat abrasions, tarnish and crude buff marks that come and go angling.
Case is good with some wear and loss.
Case has a high raised liner and was the style used in pre photography cases that housed silhouettes and other artwork.
Purchased Daguerreotype with the reseal and paper on back, left as found.
