    Description

DOUBLE 1/6 PLATE DAGUERREOTYPES OF A HANDSOME COUPLE IN A WONDERFUL MOP CASE -
The two matching sixth plates appear to have been the work of either a Boston or New York photographer judging by the type of mat designs I have seen many operators use in these two cities. The husband and wife are beautifully captured and reside in a super "TOKEN" Mother-of-Pearl inlay case. The plates are both in very nice original condition with some hand tinting on both of the subject's faces.
Good luck to all my clientele landing this lovely presented set of cased daguerreotypes for your collection.
    CONDITION
: Please view my detailed photos for the actual condition of these images and as part of my description. The daguerreotypes contains excellent contrast, tonal range and sharpness. Both have warm toned tinting applied to their faces. The images both appear to have their full or partial seals from the day they were created. The case is in excellent antique condition with normal edge wear and the hinge although full intact is slightly loose. The case holds both plates, contains both interior pillows and the fully functional latch system. All the Mother-of-Pearl elements are present and the lacquer has typical age crazing you find on an item that is more than 160 years old. I will carefully package this incredible set of images to the winning bidder by Priority Mail.
