This is an adaptation of the original calendar, nude Marilyn Monroe from 1954.  This calendar was used by traveling salesmen to sell personalized items to business owners. The tear off calendar is intact, and all is in aged but good condition except for one tiny tear on left side (See photos for actual item being auctioned.)  The photo lifts up and has a phone listing area which is clear/clean of any writing. This is an ULTRA RARE COLLECTIBLE ITEM, so get it while you can.

History of this calendar: In 1954, it was discovered that sales of Marilyn Monroe calendars could be greatly increased by adding a black acetate overlay nightie. As the print overlay was an afterthought to the production process, it was originally taped on by hand. The calendar is entitled Golden Dreams, with Marilyn being photographed by Tom Kelly. The printed overlay is Lace Babydoll Lingerie, used to make the calendar more acceptable. Imprints include: Posed By Marilyn Monroe; Golden Dreams; Made In USA; Beneath the litho is a Phone Index for writing names and telephone numbers. The calendar includes a complete 12 month pad within the calendar’s art deco brown border. Any photo glare or shadow in the images is due to light reflection.
